This original oil painting on canvas by Keith Proctor is titled "Togetherness", measuring 28" x 28", and is set in a silver and black wooden scoop frame. The artwork captures the innocence and simplicity of childhood, depicting two children walking hand-in-hand, their backs turned towards the viewer, emphasising the close bond between them. One child is dressed in a floral pink dress and sun hat, holding a football, while the other wears a casual summer outfit, also carrying a ball. The scene evokes nostalgia for carefree outdoor play and the unspoken connection shared between young friends or siblings.
Keith Proctor, a renowned artist, has been painting for over thirty years. Starting with watercolours and pastels, he later transitioned to oils. Influenced by his father’s advice to always break up lines and make marks interesting, Keith has developed a unique style characterised by bold, confident brushwork. He begins each piece with a charcoal sketch on a pre-coloured cotton canvas, focusing on balance and composition, often using a limited palette of just five colours.
Many of his works are inspired by his youngest son, Jack, and Keith’s insight into childhood comes from his experiences as a father of four boys. His paintings capture children’s natural spontaneity and expressiveness, often depicting simple, everyday moments that convey humour, pathos, and joy. Through his work, Keith aims to transport the viewer back to a simpler time, reflecting on the fleeting yet precious moments of childhood that leave a lasting impact.
In "Togetherness", Keith Proctor beautifully encapsulates the essence of childhood friendships and the simplicity of shared adventures outdoors.
